Chad Beroth
Artist of the Week!
Week 1- October

It's hard to label my style of art since I don't tend to work in any one particular style or medium, but my work for the most part is generally pretty fast-paced, loose, urban, emotional, and usually pretty colorful... I love color! I try not to paint exact images from objects or things I see or enjoy looking at - I prefer to paint what I feel. I'd rather paint the feeling of a scene than the objects in the scene… If the scene I paint doesn't look like the scene it's taken from, or the portrait doesn't look like the face you see, it's intentional… I only paint the parts I feel - the parts that matter to me while I'm painting. When I can look at the painting and feel what I felt at the scene or when I looked at the person's face - then it's perfect to me. When someone writes poetry, they don't write every detail, they give you just the pieces you need to see what they're seeing… that's what I try to do with paint. I'd like someday for my style to be looked at as "visual poetry", but for now, I guess as long as it's selling, and I don't have to work a day job, you can call it what you want!
Chad Beroth's work will be on exhibit through the month of October at Chelsee's Coffee, 533 N. Trade Street, Winston-Salem. An opening reception will take place from 7-10pm on Friday, October 3rd in conjunction with the First Friday Gallery Hop in the arts district of downtown WS.
