Exhibiting Members of the Gallery of the Arts

Oil / Watercolor
I paint the landscapes of my state, beautiful North Carolina, and places where I travel. I am excited by the colors I see in the world around me and as a colorist, I try to record how I feel about what I see for others to enjoy and try to impart a feeling of peace and serenity in my work. My journey in art began as a child when I discovered my love of drawing. As an adult, other things took precedence. For a few years I worked as a secretary for Western Electric, then decided I wanted a family and raised a daughter and three sons. During this time I began painting in oils and acrylics, teaching myself. Later, I took courses in art through the Arts Council and Forsyth Technical Community College. In recent years I have studied watercolor with Alice Bess, Zoltan Szabo, Sterling Edwards and Alexis Lavine.
