Pastels
My life has been a mix of science and art. While working as a chemist, I began painting in oils and pastels in the late 70's in Cleveland, Ohio. I also studied the techniques of the masters for a degree in Art History. Relocating to Winston-Salem, NC, I found a community that truly nurtures the arts, which inspired me to earn a BFA in painting from UNCG. I am actively involved in local art groups, and continue to show my art in community exhibits and in this gallery. Currently I work in pastels, oils and watercolor / gouache.

Artist's Statement
I love the beauty of nature and find inspiration in travels, locally and even in my own garden. The message in my landscape paintings is simple: to please the eye and hope the viewer can enjoy my vision with me. Dancing trees, peaceful lily ponds, and other wonderful visual getaways are often the subjects of my art. Sometimes architecture is added, like bridges or interesting buildings, but it is always subservient to the nature around it.
I have one diversion, a children's book, the story of three clowns which I am writing and illustrating.
