Gary Koonce
Gary Koonce is a singer of stories that are old and new. He specializes in traditional folk songs. Long Lonesome Road is his favorite. "I love the message of the song," he said, "there is a road we all go down, and it's different for different people, based on circumstance, choices, actions, and decisions we make." Then he sings with vigor and ease: "Look up and down that long lonesome road /Hang down your head and cry /Hang down your head and cry/ …Sit here eating this cold corn bread /Sopping the salty gravy /Sopping the salty gravy..." It's a song that gives hope in the face of bleakness.

He carries his guitar with him, and occasionally uses it, but Gary's most valued instrument is his voice.
