Now that I have retired I have time to stretch my creative side without having to seek approval from anyone, what a treat! Now the only thing I use a computer for is research and personal data. My world has become art stores, canvases, supplies, experimenting and just plain enjoying my art.
Art has taken me into a new venture, instructing adult classes at the local community college where I teach Mixed Media and Watercolor. With each class I gain more insight into various styles of art and how they reflect the individual concepts of the artist. One of the great rewards as an instructor is learning from my students. I have often told them I learn something new with every class I give.
When the creative mind finds an avenue to express inner most thoughts and feelings it inspires others to look within themselves.
As a Graphic Designer I had the opportunity to work with many mediums. I love the soft flow of watercolor, the quick dry of acrylics, the detail of pencil, and the brilliance and workability of oils and I often mix one or more of them to get the precise effect I am looking for. My favorite subjects have been Still Life and Florals. However, of late I have expanded into Abstracts where I find a freedom for the bright colors I like and an outlet for the years of experience in design.
